Big changes are in tune at the Madison Area Music Association — and 2026 is shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet.

First, MAMA is continuing to add fresh energy. There’s the newly launched website, our continuing partnership with locally-owned-and-operated venue, Atwood Music Hall, where we’ll host the annual MAMA Awards for a second year on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Plus, MAMA is renewing its focus on nurturing young musicians who want to play, while uplifting the wider music community. Change is clearly in the air.

And now? The Board of Directors is getting a remix.

Longtime board president and MAMA founder, Roy Elkins, is stepping into the well-earned role of President Emeritus. Taking the mic as our new Board Chair is Wayne Harris of 6AM Marketing. He will bring some fresh perspective and momentum to the organization and is a huge supporter of our local music scene.

Joining him on the leadership lineup:

  • Steve O’Brien, Board Vice Chair
  • Olivia Wisden, Marketing Committee Chair
  • Will Reinhart, Events Committee Chair
  • José J. Madera, Board Secretary

They’re teaming up on the Executive Board with Hannah Busse, Board Development Committee Chair Anthony Brown, and MAMA Founder and Treasurer Rick Tvedt — all working in harmony alongside Executive Director Dana Perry.

This new ensemble is now in place, and MAMA is focused on one big goal: building a long-lasting, self-regenerating legacy of musical excellence across the greater Madison area.

So, the translation? More support for musicians, more opportunities for young artists who want to play, and more reasons to celebrate the incredible talent that makes Madison’s music scene sing.

Stay tuned. The next chapter is just getting started.
