Treasurer

RIPT Accounting & Tax, Madison

Richard “Rick” Tvedt is the Founder and Treasurer of the Madison Area Music Association and one of the most influential advocates for the Madison music community over the past two decades. A lifelong champion of local artists, Rick created MAMA to celebrate Madison’s musical talent and, more importantly, to ensure that every child who wants to make music has access to the instruments and opportunities they need. His vision and persistence laid the foundation for an organization that continues to grow in impact, reach, and community significance.

Rick is the owner and publisher of Local Sounds Magazine, a long‑running platform dedicated to documenting, uplifting, and preserving Madison’s vibrant music scene. Through interviews, reviews, historical features, and cultural commentary, he has chronicled the stories of countless musicians and helped build a shared sense of identity within the local arts community.

Professionally, Rick is an accountant with Working Capital for Community Needs and the founder of RIPT Accounting & Tax, where he supports mission‑driven organizations and small businesses with financial clarity and stewardship. His dual expertise in nonprofit finance and arts advocacy has made him an indispensable leader within MAMA since its inception.

Rick’s passion for music runs deep — from his early years immersed in Madison’s live music culture to his ongoing work amplifying the voices of local artists. His commitment to youth access, community storytelling, and the preservation of Madison’s musical heritage continues to shape MAMA’s mission and guide its evolution.
As Treasurer, Rick provides steady financial leadership and institutional memory, ensuring that MAMA remains grounded in its founding purpose while expanding its capacity to serve the next generation of young musicians.
