Doster “Doc” DeHaven was a celebrated jazz trumpeter and bandleader from Madison, Wisconsin. Born in 1931, he formed his first band while attending the University of Wisconsin in 1953. DeHaven led a band that held a long-standing residency at the Pirate Ship club, performing four nights a week for over 14 years.
