Board Secretary: Richard Brown

Richard’s first foray into the Madison music scene was a fortuitous accident.  Around 1997 he was attending a show at a local venue when they announced they might have to cancel due to the DJ not coming in. Richard, who had never DJed before, offered up his services and found that he had a natural talent for it and became, for a short period, one of the house DJs for the venue.  With the club closing, and a work relocation, Richard exited the music scene for a period of time.  Now back in Madison Richard is attending Globe University with a major in Music Business Management where he is founder and president of Digital Prairie the music program’s student organization.  In addition to his time spent on campus he is in the process of launching his company, Requius, which he hopes to develop into a record label and artists services agency.  Richard was nominated to the MAMA’s board in Sept of 2011 and will be taking on the role of Secretary and Web, Social Media and Press coordinator and in these roles he hopes to enliven and return local music to center stage.  For press inquires he may be reached at richard@themamas.org or by calling 608.620.3786.
